Monotypia työskentelyssäni laatta on kuin päiväkirjan tai muistikirjan tyhjä sivu. En suunnittele enkä luonnostele kuvaa, vaan haluan työskentelyni olevan mahdollisimman vapaata, hetkessä tapahtuvaa. Annan nähtyjen ja koettujen asioiden ja tapahtumien vaikuttaa työskentelyyni. Laatan telaus ja maalikerrokset ovat kuin ajatuskerrostumia.
Maisema on ollut koko ajan töissäni enemmänkin mielenmaisema. En lähde kuvaamaan mitään tiettyä maisemaa, vaan maisema on enemmänkin sellainen paikka, missä voi tapahtua mitä vaan. Se elää elämäni muutoksissa mukana ja jalostuu ja muovautuu aina sen hetkisten ajatusteni mukaan. Työt ovat kuvastoa elämästä, niissä yhdistyy jotain menneestä ja jotain nykyhetkestä.
In my monotype practice, the plate is like a blank page in a diary or notebook. I do not plan or sketch the image beforehand; instead, I want my working process to be as free and immediate as possible. I let the things I have seen and experienced influence the way I work. Rolling ink onto the plate and building layers of paint become like layers of thought.
The landscape in my work has always been more of an inner landscape. I do not set out to depict any specific place; rather, the landscape is a kind of space where anything can happen. It moves with the changes in my life and evolves and reshapes itself according to my thoughts in each moment. The works are imagery drawn from life, combining something from the past with something from the present.
